Digital Appliances

What is Digital Dentistry?

Digital dentistry refers to the use of dental technologies or devices that uses digital or computer-controlled components to carry out dental procedures rather than using mechanical methods. The use of digital dentistry can make dental procedures more efficient, especially when compared to producing by hand using mechanical tools.

What Equipment do we use?

Here at ConfiDent Labs we use the DOF Freedom HD scanner paired with the NextDent 5100 printer.  Alongside these we have the NextDent LC-3D Print Box and LC-3D Mixer.

We chose the DOF Freedom HD scanner as it has a completely unique system compared to other conventional systems available on the market. This system is called the Stable Scan Stage (SSS) method with moving camera technology that allows us to scan without any fixture or adhesive. The conventional scanner would need for the item being scanned to be mounted with fixture or clays, not only is this messy it also takes up more time. The SSS method allows the camera and light to rotate around the centre of scanning platform whilst keeping the item being scanned stable.

Not only is the DOF Freedom HD scanner perfect for scanning gypsum models but it is also optimized for silicone and alginate impressions.

The NextDent5100 3D printer is powered by Figure 4 technology, it facilitates high speed 3D printing to produce dental appliances and castings. This enables us to print trays, models, both orthodontic and prosthodontic, crowns, bridges, orthodontic splints and surgical guides.

What software are we using?

We use Exocad software here at ConfiDent Labs for several reasons, the main one being that the Exocad DentalCAD software is known for its speedy operation and ease of use. It is reliable and robust even when dealing with complex cases.
